SUMMARY
The subject of the invention is a pharmaceutical composition in the form of an oleogel containing a drug from the group of glucocorticosteroids and its use in the treatment of non-infected inflammatory conditions of the skin, also of allergic origin, dental and gynecological diseases responding to treatment with corticosteroids.
BACKGROUND
Known in the art solutions of compositions in the form of a gel containing a drug from the group of corticosteroids as active substances, although they provide stable and relatively durable gel compositions, their composition is relatively complex, and the content of water in the liquid phase, if no preservatives are used, provides an environment favorable for the growth of bacteria.
The complexity of the composition of such preparations significantly increases the risk of allergic reactions, and the presence of a hydrogel often makes it necessary to use the said preservatives, which increases the risk of allergic reactions. There is therefore a great need for simple in composition, stable and preservative-free pharmaceutical compositions containing a drug from the group of glucocorticosteroids in the form of a gel for local use.
The aim of the invention was to provide a new anti-inflammatory and antipruritic composition in the form of a stable gel with a simple composition and not requiring the use of preservatives.
FEATURES AND KEY BENEFITS
- similar in composition and structure to the intercellular cement, increasing penetration and transport of medicinal substances
- unsaturated fatty acids are absorption promoters – facilitate penetration and permeation of the API
- simple composition provides a durable, convenient for administration to the patient’s skin
- the lack of water prevents the development of microbiological contamination, and ensure longer shelf life.
- the drug formulated in this way carries a minimized risk of causing allergies associated with the administration of the drug
