#UZSM-004
SUMMARY
The collection includes human left ventricular myocardial samples of failing hearts collected freshly after heart transplantation or left ventricular device implantation in Croatia. Several myocardial samples are from donors without known heart disease. Samples were freshly frozen after harvesting and stored at -80 °C.
BACKGROUND
The samples are used for research purposes, including analysis of the expression proteins, genes, microRNA’s, etc. Etiology of heart failure includes mostly ischemic and dilated cardiomyopathy. Each tissue donor gave written informed consent for samples collection. Ethical approval for the study and sample collection was obtained from ethical committees.
FEATURES AND KEY BENEFITS
The samples can be used for scientific studies approved by ethical committees. Such studies include analysis of cardiac disease pathogenesis either as a single experimental model or complementary to other experimental models (e.g. cell culture, knockout animals, etc).
